☁️SaaS Platform I’m Loving
Modal is changing the way that software engineers work with cloud computing services.
I’ve been a professional software developer for the past 10 years now and I’m obsessed with automation and cloud computing. Of all the platforms I’ve used, Modal is one of the most incredible because it’s so close to striking the perfect chord for making infrastructure invisible while enabling a rich developer experience.
Modal is still in beta so I’m excited to see how the product and company grows.
💭Point I’m Pondering
The 85% Rule
I first heard about this when listening to an episode of The Tim Ferriss Show, featuring Hugh Jackman. During the show, Tim and Hugh talk about how pushing yourself too hard can yield suboptimal results, and how the 85% rule is a mindset that allows you to relax and perform better than you thought you could in the first place.
I used to be a competitive swimmer and never did well in competition when I felt like I was whipping myself too hard during training and practice. Now that I think about it, saying to your athletes, “Give it your 100%” is a bit ironic; this mindset limits the athlete by not allowing room for failure. So if you fail, it means, there goes your 100%! Right down the drain.
Approaching activities with the 85% rule creates opportunity to relax under state of pressure and a mindset that there’s still some juice for the extra push.
📚What I’m Re-Reading
Four Thousand Weeks. A very close friend bought me this book about a year ago. This is definitely going on the repeat list.
🥵Hot Sauce I’m Tasting
Torchbearer’s Hot Sauces.
So I love hot sauces. Almost too much. I’m at the point where almost everything I try isn’t hot anymore. I’m chasing the dragon.
Recently, my girlfriend and her sister decided to incinerate my tastebuds with a few of their Carolina Reaper hot sauces. I think I’ve caught the dragon.
🎶What I’m Listening To
A shameless plug – Corletti Radio #7! I love making playlists and mixing them. I’d love to DJ at a few places in Brooklyn in 2023 (not including in my living room).
